Synthetic demonstrationLayout & material flow
Rearrange the cooling-skid factory and compare loaded travel under explicit constraints.

Layout and loaded material flow
Select and drag a movable area, use its arrow keys, or edit coordinates. Lines follow clear grid routes between transfer points; thicker lines carry more loaded trips. Blue zones constrain utilities. Separate movements may share a transfer point and have zero aisle distance.
Visitor arrangement
Position and constraints
Footprint 7 × 8 m. Editing any view creates a visitor proposal.
0 constraint violations in displayed arrangement.
Feasibility review
Feasible under the stated geometry, services and route assumptions.
8 skids / hypothetical week

Trips are rounded up for partial batches. Geometry assumes authorized component disposition and equipment acceptance before transfer; planning does not clear those gates.
From-to matrix, constraints and calculation basis
One product family: the existing modular cooling skid. Demand changes volume; no additional product mix is modeled. Every compared arrangement uses identical flows and costs.

Geometry and services
Fixed footprint sizes; R1 and D1 are fixed. Entire M1 and T1 footprints must remain in their indicated service zones. Kitting includes bounded component staging within its footprint. Area pairs retain 2 m separation on at least one axis. Routes use four-neighbour 1 m grid steps, with 1 m clearance from footprints and walls. Transfer points sit 1 m outside the top/bottom face, at the rounded horizontal centre. This conservative orthogonal model does not assess actual vehicle turning, fire access or workplace safety.
Minimize loaded travel metres at the selected demand; reject infeasible arrangements. Batch trips supply the objective weights. The bounded search checks baseline, proposal, coordinated starts and local moves; it returns the best feasible evaluated arrangement. Port-to-port loaded travel only. Empty returns, within-area maneuvering, congestion, time, staffing and real-world safety approval are not modeled.
- Loaded travel / metres / hypothetical week
- Sum of shortest grid route distance × loaded trips for the six declared movements. Excludes empty returns and within-area movement.
- Loaded trips / trips / hypothetical week
- For each movement: ceiling(requested skids × units per skid / batch capacity). Partial batches still require a trip.
- Assumed handling cost / USD / hypothetical week
- $0.08 per loaded metre plus $0.40 per loaded trip; fictional composite cost assumptions, without a wage or time forecast.
- Change from baseline / metres and USD / hypothetical week
- Baseline minus candidate, with identical demand, batches, costs and route rules. Positive values are hypothetical reductions. Infeasible arrangements are not compared.
All results are synthetic calculations. No measured travel reduction, realized cost savings, confidential factory layout or employer engagement is implied.
Factory planning scenario and reset
