SYN-OPS-01 / Factory overview

factory-1.0 · Synthetic operation

Plan: 8 skids / 54.8 h assumed work. Baseline: 8 skids / 54.8 h.

This tab retains your scenario and demo reviews. Reset factory restores the original state.

All parts, suppliers, measurements and events below are fictional. Built to demonstrate engineering analysis and software design; no employer or customer engagement is implied.

Factory floor plan

32 × 20 m / illustrative arrangement

Circulation / assumed 2 m corridor

Select an area to inspect its function and records. Connections show process sequence; the plan is a teaching assumption, without travel optimization or a safety-code assessment.

Selected area

M1 / Valve machining

Finish the valve-spool diameter and inspect the process against its fixed reference.

Operator: SYN-021 · Fictional equipment fabricator. Purchased harness supplier: SYN-014. Factory and supplier roles are distinct.

Industrial engineering / baseline

210 loaded m / hypothetical week at 8 skids

Calculated from geometry and loaded trips. The overview drawing retains baseline geometry; quality decisions are independent.

Open layout workbench

Work design / A1 / baseline

Single-task lifting index 1.61

Synthetic workstation calculation. Layout geometry supplies location context; it does not establish reach, capacity or safety approval.

Review workstation

Continuous improvement / M1 / 32 experimental cuts

2 settings pass the study screen

Synthetic loss evidence and a randomized, replicated machining experiment. Draft changes preserve existing quality gates.

Investigate process tradeoffs

Manufacturing ML / M1 / 720 synthetic batches

Logistic regression / 20% inspection threshold

Compare trained models, inspect heldout errors and investigate a changed process. Inspection support; no release approval.

Open ML workbench

Production flow / SYN-FLOW-001 / simulation

1 assembly workers / 1 test stand pairs / 2 waiting slots

Configuration only. Inspect queues, line balance and 20-run simulated outcomes in the workbench; these differ from geometric calculations and quality acceptance evidence.

Standard work content

54.8 h

Assumed work content; not forecast capacity

Illustrative order trace

3 orders

One unit each; subset of the operation

Suspect harness population

11 failures observed in 80 suspect-lot screens

Baseline: 8 requested skids / 54.8 h assumed work content. Baseline remains 8 skids / 54.8 h.

Metric dictionary

Requested output / skids / hypothetical week
Visitor planning input. Baseline is 8; not an observed production result.
Gross component requirement / each or sets / hypothetical week
Requested skids × component quantity per skid; excludes inventory netting and purchasing lead time.
Standard work content / hours / hypothetical week
Requested skids × assumed work minutes per unit / 60. Excludes rework, downtime and waiting; not a capacity or staffing forecast.
Illustrative order trace / orders
Three one-unit records illustrating component genealogy; not a complete schedule for the weekly demand.
SPC measured population / observations
90 sampled measurements from the existing SPC case. Not total production or an inferred lot defect count.
Suspect supplier population / units
400 in SYN-B1 + 350 in SYN-B2. Distinct from 11 observed sample failures.

Seeded planning history
